Protecting Sudan's borders and economy through intelligence-led enforcement
The Anti-Smuggling Department of Sudan Customs is responsible for combating cross-border illicit trade across all western Sudan crossings. Operating under the Directorate of Customs Enforcement, the department coordinates intelligence-led operations targeting the smuggling of narcotics, gold, arms, livestock, and counterfeit goods.
With permanent field units stationed at Umm Dafoq, Andok, Kubus, Adila, and Kereinik crossings, the department works in close cooperation with border guards, police, and international customs organizations to secure Sudan's western frontier.
In 2025, the department achieved a 120% increase in seizure volume compared to the previous year, reflecting enhanced surveillance capabilities and improved inter-agency coordination.
